Prime Minister Narendra Modi Scheduled to Visit Jammu on February 20

Jammu anticipates a flurry of activity as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the region on February 20th, 2024. The visit promises to be a pivotal moment for the city, with the Prime Minister scheduled to inaugurate, dedicate to the nation, and lay the foundation stone for a multitude of development projects, collectively valued at over Rs 30,500 crore.

Education Sector Receives a Boost

In a move aimed at bolstering the education sector nationwide, Prime Minister Modi will unveil several key educational institutions, including IIT Jammu, IIM Jammu, IIT Bhilai, IIT Tirupati, IIITDM Kancheepuram, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Visakhapatnam, and the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Kanpur. These institutions are poised to play a crucial role in shaping the country’s future of education and skill development.

AIIMS Jammu Inauguration

Among the highlights of the visit is the inauguration of AIIMS Jammu, a project initiated in February 2019. This state-of-the-art medical facility, established at a cost exceeding Rs 1660 crore, is set to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, marking a significant milestone in the region’s healthcare infrastructure.

Infrastructure Upgrades Across Multiple Sectors

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for various infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and civic amenities in the region. These include the construction of a new terminal building at Jammu Airport, railway projects such as the Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan rail line, and road projects like the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway and the Srinagar Ring Road expansion.

Economic Stimulus and Public Facilities

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several projects aimed at bolstering the region’s economy and enhancing public facilities. These projects span a wide range of sectors, including road infrastructure, power transmission, sewage treatment, and industrial development, among others.

The visit holds immense significance for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, promising a new era of development and progress for the region. Prime Minister Modi’s presence underscores the government’s commitment to the holistic development of all regions across the country, ensuring equitable growth and prosperity for all citizens.
