In a spirited public address in Nizamabad district, Telangana, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and his family, alleging widespread corruption within the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Gandhi claimed that the most lucrative ministries, including those overseeing land, liquor, and sand, are under the control of KCR’s family.
“The most money-making ministries are in the hands of KCR’s family. Most of the money is made on land, liquor, and sand, and all of them are under the control of KCR and his family members,” Rahul Gandhi asserted.
Accusing KCR of corruption, Gandhi challenged the Chief Minister’s integrity, stating that if KCR were not corrupt, key ministries would not be monopolized by his family. He accused KCR’s MLAs of taking a cut of Rs 3 lakh under the Dalit Bandhu scheme and alleged diversion of funds from the SC/ST sub-plan.
Addressing the crowd, Gandhi highlighted the Congress party’s promises, including the Mahalakshmi scheme, which pledges to provide Rs 2500 every month to women in Telangana. He assured that under Congress rule, LPG gas cylinders, currently priced at Rs 1200 by the BRS government, would be available for Rs 500. Emphasizing the party’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, Gandhi outlined how Congress aims to save the money of the people in Telangana through these schemes.
“In the last two years, you have seen ‘Dorala’ government, a family government. For the next 10 years, you will get to see the ‘Prajala’ government,” Gandhi declared, promising a shift from what he characterized as a family-centric administration.
Reminding the audience of Congress’ six guarantees in Telangana, Gandhi pledged that the party would deposit an amount equivalent to what the opposition allocates to billionaires directly into the bank accounts of the state’s poor. He also announced a provision of Rs 5 lakh for individuals without a house, enabling them to build their own homes.
Telangana is gearing up for assembly polls on November 30, with the ruling BRS, Congress, and BJP emerging as the main contenders. Vote counting is scheduled for December 3. The upcoming election is poised to be a crucial battleground for these political rivals in shaping the state’s future.
