Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ Set to Kick Off from Imphal to Mumbai on January 14

Congress leader and former party president Rahul Gandhi is set to embark on another Yatra, known as Nyay Yatra, starting from January 14 in Imphal, Manipur, and concluding on March 20 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, as announced by the Congress Party on Wednesday. During the Yatra, Gandhi will engage with youth, women, and marginalized communities, covering a distance of 6,200 km through 14 states and 85 districts.

The Nyay Yatra’s route will traverse Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will flag off the Yatra, which is expected to coincide with the increasing momentum of campaigning for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

During a news conference in Delhi, Organisation Secretary KC Venugopal stated, “Bharat Nyay Yatra to start from January 14 to March 20 from Manipur to Mumbai. Now Rahul Gandhi is doing a yatra with great experience from the first Bharat Jodo Yatra. He is going to interact with youth, women and marginalized people. Yatra will cover 6,200 kms. This time the Yatra will be carried out by bus with leaders expected to walk certain sections of the route.”

The decision to start the Yatra from East to West was influenced by the opinions of Congress workers on December 21, and Rahul Gandhi agreed to fulfill the wishes of the Congress Working Committee (CWC).

The earlier Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi, commenced in Kanyakumari on September 7, 2022, and concluded on January 30, 2023, in Srinagar, covering 3,970 km, 12 states, and two Union territories over more than 130 days. The impact of the yatra was notable during the polls in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, with the Congress observing a significant increase in strike rate and vote share. The Yatra traveled 511 km in Karnataka over 22 days between Gundlupet constituency and Raichur Rural constituency.
