Union Defence Minister and BJP observer for Rajasthan, Rajnath Singh, along with party observers Vinod Tawde and Saroj Pandey, arrived on Tuesday to attend the legislature party meeting in the state. The meeting is expected to finalize the name for the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and state BJP chief CP Joshi welcomed the party observers. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, also the Rajasthan BJP Election in-charge, joined the key meeting.
Rajnath Singh, Vinod Tawde, and Saroj Pandey were appointed as party observers for Rajasthan, tasked with overseeing the decision-making process regarding the new Chief Minister. The meeting, scheduled for the evening, will play a crucial role in determining the leadership for the state.
Ahead of the Congress legislative party meeting on the same day, Rajasthan BJP Chief CP Joshi stated that he is not in the race for Chief Minister. He mentioned that clarity on the matter is expected by 5 pm.
BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena cautioned that people should be prepared for a surprise in the Chief Minister selection process, emphasizing the experienced national leaders appointed as observers.
BJP MLA Jogeshwar Garg echoed the sentiment, stating that the legislative party meeting would decide the Chief Minister, drawing parallels with the processes in other states.
Senior BJP leader Rajendra Rathore acknowledged the historic significance of the day for Rajasthan politics, emphasizing that the MLAs would decide the Chief Minister at 4:30 pm.
Earlier, a meeting of supporters of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, considered a front runner for the position, took place at her residence. The BJP secured 115 seats out of 199 in the recent Rajasthan assembly polls, leading to the ousting of the incumbent Ashok Gehlot government, with the Congress winning 69 seats.
