On Monday, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh revealed a statue honoring India’s inaugural Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Bipin Rawat, at a school in Dehradun. Singh praised Rawat for instigating significant reforms within the Indian Army’s history.

Addressing students at The Tons Bridge School in Dehradun, Singh highlighted the pivotal nature of Gen Rawat’s appointment as CDS, emphasizing its importance as a transformative step for the Indian Army. He underscored the government’s commitment to bolstering the armed forces through initiatives like the establishment of the National War Memorial and the provision of modern weaponry and improved facilities.

Singh emphasized the indispensable role of soldiers in upholding civilization, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for safeguarding their dignity and recognizing their invaluable contributions to national security. He stressed the vital contribution of soldiers to India’s progress.

Singh remarked on the significance of schools in shaping young minds and identifying role models, endorsing Gen Bipin Rawat as an exemplary figure for children to emulate.
