Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Address Rallies in Assam Ahead of Lok Sabha Polls

Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah announced on Monday that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit the northeast state on March 14, coinciding closely with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections expected to be held in April-May.

During his visit, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address two rallies in the state, according to Baruah. “He will address two rallies in Barpeta and Kokrajhar. Now our karyakartas are busy for the meetings of the Defence Minister,” Baruah stated. Assam BJP has formed clusters in 14 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state, and Union Ministers and BJP’s central leadership will visit each cluster.

“On March 14, Rajnath Singh will be visiting the state for a political event…All preparations are being made for the visit,” Baruah confirmed. He added that the Assam BJP is striving to secure victory in all 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state, expressing confidence in the party’s performance.

“Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that we (NDA) will win 11.5 seats in the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. It may be gone up to 12. But we are trying to win all 14 seats,” Baruah stated, highlighting the ambitious goals of the party.

It is noted that the BJP will contest in 11 out of the 14 seats, while its ally parties AGP will contest in Barpeta and Dhubri seats and UPPL in Kokrajhar seat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is facing his third Lok Sabha election, recently visited the BJP-ruled state on a two-day visit, reflecting the party’s focus on strengthening its presence in the region.

The Lok Sabha polls are scheduled to be held in April-May this year, and political parties are actively gearing up for the electoral battle in Assam and across the country.
