‘Regardless of Victory or Defeat, We Love You,’ Says Rahul Gandhi Following Team India’s World Cup Loss

After Team India’s disappointing loss to Australia in the ICC World Cup cricket match on Sunday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi commended the Men in Blue, expressing, “Win or lose, we love you either way.”

“Team INDIA, you played exceptionally well throughout the tournament! Win or lose, we love you either way and we will win the next one,” posted the Congress MP on social media.

Rahul Gandhi also extended congratulations to Australia for their well-deserved World Cup victory, stating, “Congratulations to Australia for a well-deserved World Cup victory.”

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge acknowledged India’s performance, saying, “India played well and won hearts. Your talent and sportsman’s spirit were visible in the game. Every single Indian is proud of your remarkable performance throughout the World Cup. We will always cheer for you and cherish your accomplishments.”

Cricket historian and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor emphasized that India was unequivocally the best team in the tournament.

Despite maintaining an unbeaten record in the 2023 World Cup, India faced a six-wicket defeat against Australia in the final. The majority of supporters had gathered at the Narendra Modi Stadium, hoping to witness the host nation end their decade-long wait for an ICC trophy win. However, Australia emerged victorious on the crucial day, with Travis Head’s remarkable century leading them to their sixth ICC Cricket World Cup title.
