Following the tragic shooting at the Crocus City concert hall near Moscow, Russia’s Investigative Committee has confirmed a death toll of 115 people, with concerns that this number may increase, according to RT News. The committee stated that the causes of death were gunshot wounds and smoke inhalation from combustion products.
Initially reporting 93 casualties, authorities later revised the figure after finding additional bodies during rescue operations. Among the deceased were at least three children, as reported by the Moscow Region Health Ministry.
Russian intelligence agencies detained 11 individuals, including four labeled as ‘terrorists,’ directly linked to the attack at Crocus City Hall, as per TASS citing Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB). The assailants, wearing military-style gear and armed with assault rifles, targeted unarmed security guards before firing into the panicked crowd and setting fire to the concert hall.
Investigators are analyzing evidence, including CCTV footage and witness statements, to understand the details of the attack. Preliminary findings indicate the use of automatic weapons and a flammable substance by the terrorists.
The ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned as a “heinous act,” expressing solidarity with Russia.
