Russia Provides 27 Tonnes of Food Aid to Gaza Amidst Escalating Tensions

Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday that 27 tonnes of food supplies for the civilians in the Gaza Strip, destined to be transferred from Egypt, have been provided by Russia.

In a statement on X, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized, “Russia’s EMERCOM has delivered 27 tonnes of food supplies to the Egyptian Red Crescent for distribution among the needy population in the Gaza Strip. Every contribution counts.”

Deputy Minister Ilya Denisov of Russia highlighted, “A specialized plane departed from Ramenskoye airport near Moscow to El-Arish in Egypt. The humanitarian aid from Russia, including wheat, sugar, rice, and pasta, will be handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent for its onward journey to the Gaza Strip.”

In earlier news, the office of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared details of his discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin, revealing Netanyahu’s commitment to continuing the offensive against Hamas until their military and governing capabilities are dismantled.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, President Putin conveyed Russia’s efforts to de-escalate the situation in the Gaza Strip during their telephone conversation. The ministry further noted that President Putin extended his condolences to the families of the Israeli victims.

Furthermore, Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Eli Cohen, along with 22 ambassadors and diplomats, urged for the immediate release of the abductees held by Hamas in Gaza. Cohen stressed the importance of international organizations and the Red Cross verifying the conditions of the abductees.
