Sanjay Raut threat case: Mumbai Police arrests NCP worker

The Mumbai police have arrested an NCP worker identified as Mayur Shinde in connection with a case involving threat to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and his MLA brother Sunil Raut.

The Mumbai police have arrested five people, including an NCP worker identified as Mayur Shinde in connection with a case involving threat to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and his MLA brother Sunil Raut. The accused will be produced before the Mulund court. Shinde is reportedly an NCP worker from Thane and is close to the Raut family.

“The accused is also a political activist and has a close association with local leaders from the eastern suburbs of the city. His social media profile also shows his pictures and videos with MLA Sunil Raut,” an official told PTI. The other accused had threatened Raut over a phone call on instructions of Shinde. He is in policy custody till June 19. The police had initially arrested two people, who revealed the names of a few others during the interrogation. Two men, one autorickshaw driver, another interior designing worker, were arrested from a suburb in Mumbai on June 10.

According to preliminary information, they made the threat calls to the Raut brothers under the influence of alcohol. Sunil Raut had received a call in which the caller threatened to shoot him as well as his brother.

“The government should take it (threat to him and his brother) seriously and not me. The government wants such threats. The matter is with the police and they will have to look into it,” Sanjay Raut had told reporters.
