Sony’s PlayStation VR2 Could Gain PC Compatibility Soon

Sony is expanding the gaming possibilities for PlayStation VR 2 users by exploring PC support for the VR headset. This move aims to enhance the versatility of the VR 2 and address one of its main limitations.

Launched last year, PlayStation VR 2 has become popular among gamers for its immersive experiences with titles like Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Pavlov, and Resident Evil: Village. However, its compatibility has been limited to the PS5, leaving PC gamers unable to enjoy the headset’s capabilities. Sony is now aiming to change that by testing PC support for the PS VR 2, with plans to implement this feature by the end of 2024.

In a recent blog post, Sony announced, “We’re pleased to share that we are currently testing the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional games on PC to offer even more game variety in addition to the PS VR2 titles available through PS5. We hope to make this support available in 2024, so stay tuned for more updates.”

If successful, this move would address one of the significant drawbacks of the PS VR 2 and make the headset more versatile and useful for gamers. Currently, the game library for PS VR 2 is limited, and PC support would open up a wide range of games for users to enjoy.

The PlayStation VR 2 package includes the VR headset, two PS VR 2 controllers, a USB cable for controller pairing and charging, stereo headphones, three pairs of earpieces, and printed materials. The design of the VR headset is in line with the aesthetics of the PS5, featuring a plastic body with an adjustable band for a comfortable fit. The lenses can also be adjusted, and the headset comes with silicon cushioning for added comfort during use. The PS VR 2 boasts an OLED 2000 x 2040 per eye display with a 120 Hz refresh rate for a high-quality visual experience.

For those interested in purchasing a PS VR 2 in India, the device is available through Sony Centers and authorized retailers such as Amazon, Reliance Digital, and Croma. Priced at Rs 57,999, the package includes the VR headset, Sense controllers, and necessary accessories.
