A horrifying incident has emerged from Jharkhand’s Dumka district, where a Spanish tourist, accompanying her husband on a bike tour, was reportedly subjected to a brutal gang rape, according to police reports on Saturday.

The distressing ordeal unfolded late Friday night in the Hansdiha area of Dumka, as the couple halted at a remote location to spend the night in a makeshift tent during their journey.

Authorities revealed that three individuals have been apprehended in connection with the heinous crime. Jarmundi Sub Divisional Police Officer Santosh Kumar confirmed the incident, stating, “The incident of gangrape occurred on Friday night.”

The tourist couple, en route to Bihar’s Bhagalpur from Dumka, had halted near the Hansdiha market to rest for the night. Their journey, originating from Bangladesh on a two-wheeler, was intended to proceed to Nepal via Bihar.

In addition to the sexual assault, the perpetrators reportedly subjected the couple to physical assault. Following the harrowing ordeal, the victim is undergoing medical examinations at Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital in Dumka.

Authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident, underscoring the urgent need for swift justice and enhanced measures to ensure the safety and security of tourists, both domestic and international, traversing through the region.
