The Supreme Court, on Wednesday, deferred the decision on the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS) 2024 and directed the Centre to make an expeditious decision on the matter. The court was responding to a petition seeking the postponement of the NEET-MDS 2024 test. The Centre informed the court that it is currently reviewing the matter.
Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, noted the government’s involvement and expressed reluctance to extend cut-off dates. The court acknowledged that the cut-off date issue falls within the policy domain, and it would be preferable to allow the government to make the decision.
The court directed the Centre to decide on the representation regarding the NEET-MDS 2024 matter expeditiously, preferably within one week. The current cut-off date for the NEET MDS internship is March 31.
