Supreme Court Organizes Landmark Conference on AI and Judiciary Collaboration with Singapore

In an endeavor to delve into the dynamic relationship between technology and the legal system, with a special emphasis on the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the judiciary, the Supreme Court of India is set to host a groundbreaking two-day conference. Scheduled for April 13 and 14, 2024, the event will foster a dialogue between the Supreme Courts of India and Singapore.

Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, and Chief Justice of Singapore, Justice Sundaresh Menon, alongside a distinguished panel of judges, jurists, and experts, will lead discussions covering a wide spectrum of topics at the conference.

The focal points of the conference revolve around the implications of Artificial Intelligence for the legal system. Topics include its capacity to aid court proceedings, its role in judicial training, enhancing access to justice, ethical considerations in its application, and envisioning the future trajectory of AI in the legal domain.

A statement issued by the Supreme Court highlights the conference’s objective to serve as a platform for sharing insights, best practices, and innovative ideas. The aim is to foster a deeper understanding of how AI can augment judicial processes and bolster access to justice.

Moreover, it aims to foster a shared commitment to the evolution of legal systems and the judicious utilization of AI. The ultimate goal is to streamline legal processes, reduce time and costs associated with litigation, and render justice more accessible to citizens.
