Taylor Swift fans were frustrated during the opening moments of her Wembley concert on Thursday after being stuck outside the stadium as the show began. The 34-year-old singer, back in London for five more performances, saw some eager fans miss the start of her first concert in the city.
According to MailOnline, some fans were delayed in entering the stadium due to a wristband distribution issue, missing the initial songs from the Lover era.
The problem arose because security ran out of wristbands, preventing entry. Fans pleaded to be allowed in faster so they wouldn’t miss the opening performances, which included “Cruel Summer,” “The Man,” and “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince.”
One concertgoer described the situation as chaotic, noting that wristbands would be brought out in batches, but would quickly run out, leading to long waits. Swift looked stunning in her signature pink sparkly Lover bodysuit as she took the stage.
Ticketmaster also faced criticism from fans after a technical glitch prevented them from purchasing tickets, leading to hundreds of empty seats.
Fans took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to share photos of large blocks of empty seats, blaming Ticketmaster for the issue. The glitch reportedly involved access codes that either weren’t sent or were invalid, preventing fans from buying tickets for Swift’s final UK shows on her current tour.
Later in the evening, photos showed a much fuller Wembley, with some X users suggesting that the earlier images were taken before everyone had settled into their seats.
Commenting on the situation, one user noted that the area had filled up by the time they were watching a live stream of the concert. This Wembley show on August 15 marked Taylor’s first performance since these issues arose, which have likely been challenging for her to deal with.
