Telangana: Modi lays foundation for Secunderabad railway station redevelopment project, AIIMS Bibinagar

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in Telangana, lay the groundwork for the reconstruction of Secunderabad Train Station. On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Hyderabad. At Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad, he was greeted by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy. Bandi Sanjay, the chief of the Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was also present at the airport.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao did not greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport. In his absence, the CM sent state minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav to meet the Prime Minister at Begumpet airport. The Telangana Chief Minister also skipped Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the state on Saturday.

PM Modi laid the groundwork for the rebuilding of Secunderabad Railway Station and other infrastructure projects during a ceremony at Parade Ground in Hyderabad. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station, which is expected to cost Rs 720 crore, will include world-class amenities and an artistically built landmark station structure.

The reconstructed station will feature a double-level expansive roof plaza with all passenger facilities in one location, as well as multimodal connectivity to allow passengers to travel seamlessly from train to other modes, among other features.

During the programme, the Prime Minister launched 13 new Multi-Modal Transport Service (MMTS) routes in the Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin city region, offering commuters with a fast, convenient, and comfortable mode of transportation.

He also dedicated the Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar doubling and electrification project. The project, which spanned over 85 kilometres, was completed at a cost of almost Rs 1,410 crore. According to the PMO statement, the project will provide seamless communication and assistance in increasing train average speed.

During the programme, the Prime Minister also lay the groundwork for National Highway projects worth over Rs 7,850 crore. These road projects will improve Telangana and Andhra Pradesh’s road connectivity and contribute to the region’s socioeconomic development.
The Prime Minister also lay the groundwork for AIIMS Bibinagar.

AIIMS Bibinagar will cost more than Rs 1,350 crore to build. According to the PMO statement, the development of AIIMS Bibinagar is a crucial milestone in offering complete, quality, and holistic tertiary care health services to the people of Telangana at their doorstep.

PM Modi flagged off the Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express from Secunderabad Railway Station earlier today. The current Vande Bharat train will save travel time between the two cities by over three and a half hours, benefiting pilgrims from both Telugu states in particular.

This is India’s inaugural Vande Bharat Express, linking Tirupati, a city in Andhra Pradesh known for the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple and other historic temples. This is India’s 13th Vande Bharat Express, and it will operate between Secunderabad in Telangana and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.
