Telangana polls: BRS releases manifesto, promises LPG cylinder at Rs 400

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections, outlining a comprehensive array of welfare measures and financial aid promises intended to address the pressing needs of various segments of society. Prominent among the pledges is the party’s commitment to provide LPG cylinders at a subsidized rate of Rs 400, accompanied by a commitment to increase financial assistance for farmers through the Rythu Bandhu investment support scheme.

“The BJP at the centre has increased the gas cylinder prices abnormally and put an unbearable burden on the common man. BRS is announcing another guarantee with a humanitarian aspect due to the large number of requests from women to avoid this burden. We promise that the BRS government will provide a gas cylinder for Rs 400 to deserving poor women and the rest of the burden will be borne by the government,” the party stated, expressing concerns over the escalating costs that have affected the populace.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister and BRS chief, K Chandrasekhar Rao, emphasized the party’s commitment to social security, highlighting plans to enhance life insurance coverage for families living below the poverty line and to raise the pension amounts for both the general populace and Divyang individuals.

“We will provide life insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh through LIC on the lines of Rythu Bhima to every poor household who possesses a white ration card. One hundred per cent premium will be paid by the government. By this scheme, we will contribute to the strengthening of the public sector LIC,” he added, underscoring the party’s vision to foster a more secure and robust social security system for the most vulnerable segments of society.

In a bid to fortify the agricultural sector, the BRS reiterated its commitment to the Rythu Bandhu scheme, reaffirming its instrumental role in providing critical financial support for crop investment and acknowledging its impact in stabilizing the agricultural landscape.

“No one imagined that the government would help the farmers of the country to invest in crops. BRS introduced Rythu Bandhu. This scheme was not an election promise when it was introduced. We brought the Rythu Bandhu scheme with commitment and honesty, thinking to give relief to the farmers from the mounting debts and to stabilize agriculture. Now, the government is providing Rs 10,000 crop investment assistance per acre annually,” the party highlighted, underscoring the pivotal role of the agricultural sector in the state’s economy.

The BRS’s manifesto further emphasized an increase in the social security pension from the current Rs 2,016 to Rs 5,000 per month over the next five years. Similarly, the party has also committed to enhancing the pension for Divyang individuals, increasing it from the current Rs 4,016 to Rs 6,016 over the next five years.

Additionally, the party’s manifesto promises to enhance the health insurance coverage provided under the ‘Arogya Sri’ health scheme from the present Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh, aiming to ensure comprehensive healthcare access for eligible beneficiaries.

With the Telangana Assembly polls scheduled for November 30 and the subsequent vote counting set for December 3, the BRS has positioned itself as a champion of inclusive governance, aiming to address the critical needs of various sections of society and striving to create a more equitable and sustainable socio-economic landscape in the state.
