"Telangana Run By One Family", Congress Leader Pawan Khera Hits Out at BRS
Congress leader Pawan Khera criticized the Telangana government led by the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS), stating that “Telangana was not created for the exclusive benefit of a single family.” Speaking to a media house, Khera emphasized that the state’s administration seemed to be concentrated within one family, including the father, daughter, son, and nephew, reiterating that the essence of Telangana should be centered around the welfare of its people rather than the interests of a particular family.
In response, BRS MLC K Kavitha accused the Gandhi family of betraying the state, citing historical instances of what she deemed as actions that undermined Telangana’s interests. Addressing party workers in Nizamabad, Kavitha referred to the forceful amalgamation of Telangana into Andhra Pradesh during Jawaharlal Nehru’s tenure, the tragic events surrounding the statehood movement in 1969, and the broken promises made by subsequent members of the Gandhi family.
Meanwhile, a delegation from the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) party, led by President Prof Kodandaram, Prof Vishweshwar Rao, and Ambati Srinivas, expressed their unwavering support for the Congress Party in the upcoming State Assembly Elections during a meeting with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. The impending political landscape in Telangana suggests an intense three-way competition among the BRS, Congress, and BJP.
During the 2018 Assembly elections, the BRS secured a significant victory, claiming 88 out of 119 seats and garnering 47.4 percent of the total vote share. The Congress party trailed behind with 19 seats and a vote share of 28.7 percent.
