Cab services offer a convenient and comfortable mode of transportation with a dedicated driver, making them a popular choice for travel. However, occasional disputes between drivers and passengers can turn these services into distressing experiences. A recent incident from Delhi highlights this issue, where a man accused an Ola Cab driver of assaulting and disrespecting him in front of his six-year-old son.
Kiran Verma took to LinkedIn to share the harrowing encounter.
Verma explained that he had booked an Ola Cab in February to pick someone up from the airport. The altercation began when the cab driver insisted on canceling the ride and paying in cash instead. Tensions escalated further when the driver took a different route, citing traffic congestion.
The situation intensified when the driver began shouting for no apparent reason, frightening Verma’s young son who pleaded to leave the cab. Concerned for his son’s safety, Verma contacted both Ola’s helpline and the police. Ultimately, Verma and his son exited the cab, but the situation turned violent when the driver slapped him after he refused to pay.
Despite Ola’s support executive advising against payment and communication with the driver, the situation worsened. The driver, overhearing their conversation via loudspeaker, slapped Verma once more.
In his post, Kiran Verma stated that Ola closed his complaint within an hour without taking any action. “My son was so traumatized that night; he cried loudly as soon as we arrived home,” he recounted. The post went viral, sparking a conversation among netizens. Many users described Kiran’s experience as “frightening,” prompting others to share their own unpleasant encounters.
