During the “Delhi Chalo” march by farmers towards the national capital, Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), criticized the Modi government, labeling it as a failure. He emphasized that the Prime Minister should heed the farmers’ demands, suggesting that doing so would be politically advantageous for him in the forthcoming elections. Owaisi expressed his concerns, highlighting the tense atmosphere created by the government and stressing the urgency of meeting the farmers’ demands, notably for a legal assurance on Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the implementation of the Swaminathan Committee formula. He criticized the government’s handling of the situation, likening it to a scenario where they were dealing with an invading military force. The ongoing chaos at the Shambhu border was evident as police attempted to deter protestors from entering Delhi, resorting to tear gas and water cannons. Various defensive measures, including barricades and barbed wires, were deployed by law enforcement along the border. The farmers, represented by leaders such as Jagjeet Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha and Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, are marching to Delhi with a list of 12 demands addressed to the central government. In a separate issue, Owaisi commented on the murder of AIMIM secretary and district president Abdul Salam, alias Aslam Mukhiya, in Gopalganj, Bihar. He criticized the governance of Nitish Kumar, stating that it has failed to maintain law and order, citing the recent murders within the party ranks in Siwan as further evidence of this breakdown. Owaisi expressed disappointment in the government’s lack of action in addressing these incidents, attributing the responsibility squarely to the government.
