Police reported that in a devastating event, two people were killed and four others were injured in a boiler explosion at the slug-tyre factory in Meerut’s Phitkari village on Tuesday morning.
The grievous event occurred early this morning at Durga Enterprises, a tyre factory equipped with two boilers. The blast released chemicals from the damaged boiler, resulting in the immediate demise of two workers and inflicting critical injuries upon four others.
Local law enforcement and rescue teams quickly responded to the scene to evacuate those trapped and administer medical aid. The occurrence instilled panic among bystanders, prompting forensic and investigative units to conduct a comprehensive examination to ascertain the factors contributing to the boiler explosion.
“Two people died due to a boiler explosion at the Durga Enterprises tyre factory. The police have reached the site. Our first priority is to ensure the safety of those injured in the incident. Further investigation into the matter is underway,” said Meerut District Magistrate Deepak Meena.
The wounded laborers have been hospitalized at a nearby private medical facility, where their conditions remain critical. ASP Dehat Kamlesh Bahadur is overseeing the ongoing situation. Preliminary reports indicate a potential failure to comply with safety protocols at the factory, which could have played a role in the unfortunate deaths of two individuals. Additional information is pending.
