Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Launches India’s First Stainless Steel Sector Green Hydrogen Facility

At the launch event of India’s inaugural green hydrogen facility in the stainless steel industry, Union Minister for Civil Aviation & Steel, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, delivered a speech highlighting this significant advancement in India’s industrial sector towards sustainability. The event celebrated the beginning of Jindal Stainless’ Green Hydrogen project, a pioneering step towards an environmentally friendly future.

Minister Scindia shared his excitement about the inauguration, recognizing it as a testament to the collaborative innovation between Jindal Stainless and Hygiene Co. He praised the project for its transformative impact on the Indian steel industry and its potential to set global sustainability standards.

“The initiation of this green hydrogen plant, representing a collaboration between two pioneering entities, Jindal Stainless and Hygiene Co, fills me with immense joy. It charts a new course for the steel industry both in India and worldwide,” Scindia remarked.

Reflecting on the global crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, Scindia commended the global resilience in facing such an unprecedented challenge. He emphasized the critical importance of revitalizing global trade, commerce, and economies to foster job creation and enhance living standards worldwide as recovery progresses.

“In the aftermath of the pandemic, our collective focus on revitalizing trade, commerce, and economic growth is essential for fostering employment and enhancing global living standards,” Scindia stated.

Echoing Prime Minister Modi’s vision, Scindia underscored the significance of capitalizing on opportunities in key sectors like the national green hydrogen mission, semiconductors, and drones to position India as a forefront of global innovation and technology leadership.

“Following PM Modi’s guidance, we must embrace early opportunities in sectors like the national green hydrogen mission, semiconductors, and drones. This proactive approach will enable India to lead globally in these fields,” he said.

Scindia also highlighted the steel sector’s critical role in India’s ambition to emerge as a leading global economy, noting India’s trajectory to overtake Germany and Japan and become the world’s third-largest economy within a few years.

“The steel industry is instrumental in India’s rise as a global economic powerhouse. Currently the fifth-largest economy, we are on course to surpass Germany and Japan, aiming for the third position globally,” he asserted.

The launch of India’s first green hydrogen project in the stainless steel industry marks a pivotal step in the nation’s sustainable development and economic expansion goals.
