Amidst the ongoing Rajasthan Assembly Elections, BJP leader and Deputy Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan, Satish Poonia, expressed his confidence in the voters’ determination to impart a lesson to the Congress party. Poonia emphasized the public’s awareness of key issues and their potential impact on the electoral outcome.
“The people of the country have always voted on the national agenda, they have voted on local and state issues as well. The voters of Rajasthan, this time, are ready to teach a lesson to the Congress party,” Poonia stated. He highlighted concerns related to law and order, appeasement politics, and farmer loans, indicating these could influence the Congress party’s fate in the state.
As voting commenced on Saturday morning for 199 out of 200 assembly seats, Poonia’s remarks underscore the intensity of the political contest, with both major parties, Congress and BJP, vigorously campaigning. The unfortunate demise of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar led to the adjournment of elections in the Karanpur constituency.
Security arrangements have been diligently put in place to ensure a peaceful and fair electoral process. The ruling Congress aims for another term, while the BJP seeks to replace the Ashok Gehlot government, relying on the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The counting of votes is scheduled for December 3, and the outcome will be determined by the choices of 5,26,90,146 voters across 51,890 polling stations in the assembly constituencies. A substantial number of young voters, totaling 1,70,99,334 in the 18-30 age group, are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the electoral landscape.
To ensure a smooth voting process, a significant deployment of security personnel, including 1,02,290 personnel and 700 companies of CAPF, has been implemented. The high-voltage election campaign concluded in Rajasthan on Thursday, setting the stage for a closely watched electoral battle.
In the 2018 elections, the Congress secured 99 seats, while the BJP won 73. The eventual outcome will determine whether the Congress retains power or if the BJP succeeds in forming the government, with the political landscape eagerly awaiting the results.
