Watch: Telangana Official Caught Taking ₹84,000 Bribe, Breaks Down On Camera

A shocking incident unfolded in Telangana as K Jaga Jyothi, an executive engineer associated with the Tribal Welfare Engineering department, was arrested on Monday for accepting a bribe of ₹ 84,000. The arrest was made by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) following a complaint from an individual who accused Jyothi of soliciting the bribe in exchange for an official favor.

The ACB swiftly conducted an operation, capturing Jaga Jyothi red-handed while receiving the specified amount. A video of the official in tears after being caught has gone viral on social media, revealing the emotional aftermath of the bribery scandal.

The ACB utilized the phenolphthalein test, which indicated the presence of the chemical compound on Jaga Jyothi’s right-hand fingers, turning pink upon breakdown. Phenolphthalein is a crucial tool in detecting bribery, as it leaves traces on individuals who handle marked bills or documents.

The ACB stated that Jaga Jyothi had acted improperly and dishonestly in the execution of her duties, seeking an undue advantage. Following the arrest, the recovered bribe amount of ₹ 84,000 was seized from her possession. The executive engineer is currently in custody and is set to appear before a court in Hyderabad to face charges related to the bribery case.
