WhatsApp is developing a chat service in response to the European Digital Markets Act (DMA). This feature will allow users to send messages to other applications such as Signal or Telegram. Users can manually select these features, which focus on encryption and spam protection.
WhatsApp’s move to promote social media is seen as a direct response to European regulations on digital business rights. According to the DMA, large companies are classified as “gatekeepers” for six months to facilitate communication between different platforms.

The second protection warns users about the potential for spam and fraud in third-party chats.
