WhatsApp’s Potential To Enable Messaging Across Third-Party Apps

WhatsApp is developing a chat service in response to the European Digital Markets Act (DMA). This feature will allow users to send messages to other applications such as Signal or Telegram. Users can manually select these features, which focus on encryption and spam protection.

WhatsApp’s move to promote social media is seen as a direct response to European regulations on digital business rights. According to the DMA, large companies are classified as “gatekeepers” for six months to facilitate communication between different platforms.

According to WBetainfo, the new chat feature is currently under development and has been included in the 2.24.5.18 beta version of WhatsApp. Users must manually enable this feature to access other people’s chats. But even before the announcement, WhatsApp plans to take three measures.

The first warning warns users about sending messages to people outside of WhatsApp and also points out that third-party apps may use methods other than six-pronged encryption. The second protection warns users about the potential for spam and fraud in third-party chats. At the same time, third-party protection noted that third-party apps may process user data differently than WhatsApp.

This interaction will allow WhatsApp users to communicate with users who do not use the platform but use other services such as Telegram or Signal. However, according to WaBetaInfo’s report, these interactive sessions will be grouped. you can find chats in the chats tab in your inbox.

Dick Brouwer, head of engineering at WhatsApp, confirmed to WIRED that the chat feature has been designed to comply with the text and code of EU trade laws. The discussion will begin to support text, images, audio, and video. Features such as voice calling and group chat may be added over time.

Meta’s approach to interactive communication using WhatsApp’s existing client-server architecture. Brouwer explained that WhatsApp plans to write the client-server protocol that will allow third parties to connect directly to the WhatsApp system and exchange messages with WhatsApp users.

In summary, the provision of interactive features on WhatsApp is subject to regulation under the European Digital Markets Act. These features will improve communication by allowing users to exchange messages with people on other platforms while maintaining privacy and security measures. WhatsApp aims to provide a perfect communication experience to its users through continuous development and compliance with the management process.
