In response to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s criticism of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Union Home Minister Amit Shah countered, attributing Kejriwal’s outcry to alleged corruption within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Shah urged Kejriwal to address concerns about national security by discussing the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators. Kejriwal reiterated his concerns about the CAA, predicting increased migration and potential disruptions to law and order. Shah, in an interview, highlighted Kejriwal’s alleged ignorance of the existing refugees in India and questioned why he hasn’t addressed the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators or protested against Rohingyas. Shah accused Kejriwal of engaging in vote-bank politics and emphasized the challenges Kejriwal might face in the upcoming Delhi elections. He stressed the plight of persecuted refugees and criticized Kejriwal’s lack of sympathy towards them. The Union Home Ministry recently issued rules for implementing the CAA, aimed at granting Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants who arrived in India before December 31, 2014, from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
