A tragic incident unfolded in Assam’s Karimganj district as a woman allegedly hacked to death her three minor children, leaving her sister injured, before attempting to take her own life, according to police reports.
The distressing event occurred at Dulugang village near Harinagar Ramkrishna Nagar in Karimganj district, sending shockwaves through the community.
Authorities disclosed that both the accused woman and her sister sustained critical injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.
Partha Pratim Das, Superintendent of Police of Karimganj district, revealed that the incident stemmed from a year-long family dispute.
“This morning, the woman attacked her three children – aged 7 years, 3 years, and one year – using a sharp weapon, resulting in the tragic demise of all three minors. Subsequently, the accused woman also inflicted injuries upon her sister before attempting to end her own life,” stated Partha Pratim Das.
Both the accused woman and her sister are in critical condition and are undergoing treatment at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
Authorities have initiated further investigation into the matter to ascertain the circumstances leading to the horrific incident.
