Sanhati Paul, 32, based in Kolkata is accused of stabbing his live-in partner. The victim was identified as Sarthak Das. Sanhati stabbed Sarthak after he shared a “family” photo of him, the woman and her son on his social media account.
Sarthak Das, the deceased individual, had been residing with the accused, Sanhati Paul, who works as a professional makeup artist and is divorced with a son. Previously, Das had shared numerous photos of himself and Paul on his social media accounts, accompanied by hashtags such as “#betterhalf” and “#loveofmylife.”
However, the posts with family captions are no longer visible on his profile. The couple had reportedly been living together in a rented apartment for approximately a year and a half, during which they experienced frequent arguments.
On Wednesday, an altercation occurred, resulting in Paul allegedly stabbing Das multiple times with a knife. Subsequently, Paul contacted the police, who promptly arrived at the couple’s residence in the Dumdum area of Kolkata’s North 24 Parganas. Upon arrival, they discovered Das’s body, bearing multiple stab wounds, in a pool of blood.
Despite being swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, medical professionals pronounced him dead upon arrival, as stated in the report. Police authorities stated that the woman admitted to the murder of Das during questioning.
Although the motive behind Paul’s stabbing of Das remains unclear, law enforcement officers arrested her on charges of murder.
