“Over the years, women-led development has been the focus of the BJP government pan-India. It is a part of PM Modi’s vision for the nation where women are leading the way,” Devendra Fadnavis said addressing the We Women Want Festival 2023 in Mumbai.
“PM launched schemes to bring women into the mainstream economy and the focus of the government now is on increasing women workforce,” he said.
“Maharashtra had a lot of regressive laws where men were allowed to do shifts with extra incentives while women were not. Our government changed these laws to allow and make shifts at night safer for women,” Fadnavis mentioned while talking to NewsX.
The Deputy CM of Maharashtra stated that Mumbai is the safest city for women, where they can stroll around even at 1 AM and the credit goes to Mumbai Police.
“Most Mudra loans were given in Maharashtra and the state had the highest number of women receiving it,” he added.
“Our government announced 50% subsidy for women in state transportation and doing many things for women empowerment. I thank PM Modi for working with states for developing Women centric schemes.”
“PM Modi recently announced a scheme wherein 50 hostels will be made for working women in Maharashtra. 60% of the cost of this will be given by Central government while 40% will be given by the State government,” claimed Fadnavis.
Talking about relations with the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray, Fadnavis said, “Uddhav Thackeray and I are not enemies. We have political difference but we still respect each other outside of the professional capacity.”
