Women’s Reservation Bill Passed: “Modi Hai To Mumkin Hai’ Not Mere Saying” Smriti Irani applauds PM Modi

Following the historic passage of the women’s reservation Bill in Parliament on Thursday, Union Minister Smriti Irani showered accolades on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She emphasized that the legislative achievement underscores the truth behind the slogan “Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai” (Nothing is impossible when PM Modi is there).

The bill, which successfully navigated its final legislative step in the Rajya Sabha, ensures a 33 percent reservation for women in both the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies.

Irani, the Union Women and Child Development Minister, expressed her thoughts to ANI after the long-awaited legislation became a reality, stating, “We have often heard the phrase ‘Modi hai toh mumkin hai.’ Today, the PM has once again demonstrated that these words hold true.”

A day after it passed the Lok Sabha, the Upper House unanimously approved the women’s reservation bill, named Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, with 214 members in favor and none opposed. Following the bill’s passage, both Houses of Parliament adjourned sine die.

During this momentous occasion, women MPs took the opportunity to express their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the bill’s passage. Members from both Houses of Parliament were visibly delighted as they presented a bouquet to Prime Minister Modi.

Subsequently, both Houses of Parliament adjourned sine die. In a significant legislative triumph, the bill received overwhelming support in the Lok Sabha with 454 votes in favor and only 2 against it.

Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal provided a brief response to the day-long debate on the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Eighth Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the upper House of Parliament, assuring that it would be implemented through due process.

Before the vote, Prime Minister Modi urged Rajya Sabha members to unanimously pass the bill, asserting that it would instill fresh confidence in the country’s people. He acknowledged the substantial contributions of all members and political parties in empowering women and enhancing ‘Nari Shakti,’ calling for a powerful message to be sent to the nation.

Previously, the Rajya Sabha had approved the Women’s Reservation Bill in 2010 during the Congress-led UPA government, but it remained unaddressed in the Lok Sabha and eventually lapsed in the lower House of Parliament.
