Graduates from the world’s top 50 non-UK universities can now work in the UK under the new High Potential Individual (HPI) visa pathway, according to the UK government. Two universities from Mainland China and two from Hong Kong are on this year’s list. Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University (HKU), Peking University, and Tsinghua University are among them. CUHK (Chinese University of Hong Kong) is a new addition to the list.
No Indian university, on the other hand, has been able to get a slot. When the coronavirus cases first appeared around the world in 2020-2021, three Chinese colleges were still on the list, but no Indian universities were.
In the 2021-2022 list, the number grew to four (two each from China and Hong Kong), but Indian universities remained absent from the list of 37 universities.
From 2016 to 2022, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and the University of Hong Kong have all been on the lists. From 2016 to 2020, the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology appeared on every ranking. The university, on the other hand, is not on the list for 2021 or 2022.
