US Election: Georgia Hits 4 Million Early Votes, Sets Record

Georgia has set a new record for early voting, with more than 4 million ballots cast by Friday, marking a historic turnout in the state. As of the final day of Early Voting, 4,004,588 Georgians had voted either early in person or by absentee mail ballot. With a total turnout of 55.3%, the numbers reflect a significant increase from previous election cycles.

Unprecedented Turnout in Georgia

This year’s early voting saw 3,761,968 ballots cast in person, while 242,620 ballots were submitted by mail. According to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, 92 of Georgia’s counties surpassed a 50% turnout rate, an achievement never before seen in the state’s history.

A Record Compared to Past Elections

In comparison to previous elections, Georgia has seen a dramatic increase in voter participation. In 2018, approximately 1.89 million voters cast early ballots, rising to 2.7 million in 2020, and 2.29 million in 2022.

“This was the most successful Early Voting period in Georgia history because voters trust the process,” Raffensperger said. He also reiterated that Georgia’s progress over the last four years has prepared the state for the election, emphasizing that election interference will not be tolerated.

State and local election officials have been closely monitoring the process to prevent interference, ensuring the safety and security of the election. Raffensperger also disclosed that four individuals have been identified in an investigation for possible illegal activities related to casting multiple ballots. These individuals will be referred to local district attorneys if the investigation reveals any violations of state law.
