Donald Trump has secured victory in the US Presidential election, which was called early Wednesday morning after projections indicated he had surpassed the 270-electoral vote threshold needed for a majority. The former president faced a tough challenge from the Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump, who served as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021, becomes the first US president in over a century to return to the White House for a non-consecutive second term. He previously lost to Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Harris has held the vice presidency since January 2021.
The race was largely decided by key battleground states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Trump dominated many of the swing states, ultimately securing his victory, though some states have yet to declare their final results.
As Trump begins his second term in office, it’s a moment to reflect on the US presidents who have significantly influenced the nation’s history.
