MUST READ: Is Google Search Favouring Harris Over Trump? NewsX Tests Claims
Hours after urging voters to vote for the republicans, Barack Obama again took to X and said that the results might not be out soon. He was quick to compare it to the 2020 outcome saying that the same happened then when it took several days to count every ballot.
Sharing the tweet with his close to 132 million followers on X, the former POTUS stated, “It took several days to count every ballot in 2020, and it’s very likely we won’t know the outcome tonight either.”
He then added, “So please keep a few things in mind as you make your voice heard today: Thousands of election workers around the country are working hard today. Respect them. Thank them. Don’t share things before checking your sources,” concluding, “Let the process run its course. It takes time to count every ballot.”
Barack Obama has encouraged Americans to support Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, in the 2024 presidential election. In a video message shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Obama emphasized that the race is expected to be very tight. The 63-year-old former president also mentioned that he would feature voters’ “I Voted” stickers on his social media account.
Posting on social media on Election Day, Obama released a series of tweets urging citizens to vote for Harris and Minnesota Governor Walz. “Today is Election Day. Millions of Americans will be going to the polls to show the world who we are and what we stand for,” Obama wrote in a post featuring his video.
In the video, Obama stated, “Folks, this election is going to be close. In some states, just a handful of votes in every precinct could decide the winner.” He emphasized the importance of casting a ballot, urging, “You need to get out there and vote. Talk to your family, speak to your neighbors, make a plan, go to the polls with your friends and vote.” He concluded by saying, “Vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”
Throughout the day, Obama has been resharing posts from Democratic supporters who showcased their “I Voted” stickers. In one response, he wrote, “Thanks for voting today and making your voice heard!” to a user who posted, “We ALL voted, sir!”
