Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk plans to spend election night alongside former President Donald J. Trump at Mar-a-Lago, according to multiple sources familiar with the schedule.
Why?
Elon Musk has played a significant role as a supporter of Trump and the Republican Party during this election cycle.
Reports indicate that Musk, who owns Tesla and social media platform X, has invested heavily in Trump’s campaign efforts, contributing at least $119 million to a super PAC backing the former president.
In addition, Musk has held campaign events in key battleground states and maintains regular communication with Trump, speaking with him several times a week.
The election night gathering at Mar-a-Lago will feature a series of exclusive parties for Trump’s top donors and supporters. Musk is expected to be part of an intimate group monitoring election returns with Trump. Later in the evening, Trump plans to address a broader audience at the Palm Beach Convention Center, where thousands of supporters will gather.
Earlier A ‘Hater’, Now A ‘Supporter’
This collaboration comes despite Musk’s earlier criticism of Trump. In 2022, Musk suggested that it was time for Trump to retire from politics, stating, “It’s time for Trump to hang up his hat and sail into the sunset.” However, this year Musk has shown strong backing for the former president and the Republican Party.
Other Key Events
Other notable political figures will host or attend separate events. Former White House strategist Steve Bannon, recently released from prison after serving four months for contempt of Congress, will hold an election watch party at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile,
Vice President Kamala Harris is set to observe election results at Howard University, her alma mater. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will stay at the White House, joined by long-time aides and senior staff to follow the election developments.
