Pakistan security forces have successfully conducted separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, resulting in the elimination of ten terrorists, as per a report from Dawn citing the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
These operations spanned over two days, occurring on Friday and Saturday, according to the military’s media wing. The ISPR, in a press release on Sunday, announced that four terrorists were eliminated during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) the previous night. Additionally, four more terrorists were neutralized during a subsequent sanitization operation conducted by security forces.
In another operation in the district, the ISPR identified five terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Following an intense exchange of fire, two terrorists, identified as Hazrat Umer and Rehman Niaz, were neutralized, while three others sustained injuries.
The ISPR emphasized Pakistan’s consistent calls to the interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management, urging them to prevent the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for conducting attacks against Pakistan.
Security forces reiterated their commitment to securing borders and eradicating terrorism from the country. Earlier in the week, two terrorists were neutralized in separate operations in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district, as reported by Dawn.
The surge in terror activities in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, follows the cessation of the ceasefire between the government and the banned militant Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in November 2022. According to an annual security report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies, Pakistan witnessed a record six-year high in violence-related fatalities and injuries in 2023, with over 90% of fatalities and 84% of attacks concentrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
