According to the media report, local law enforcement has verified the rescue of two individuals, while the whereabouts of at least six others remain unknown.
The collision between a container ship and a bridge in Baltimore resulted in the near-total collapse of the bridge, causing cars and individuals to plummet into the river below. Maersk, the shipping company that chartered the Singapore-flagged vessel named Dali, confirmed that the entire crew onboard were of Indian nationality.
A video circulating on social media captured the dramatic collapse of the 3 km (1.6 miles) long bridge.
In the footage, it appeared that the vessel collided with one of the supports of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, resulting in the roadway breaking apart in multiple sections and falling into the water. The video, available on X, also showed the ship catching fire and seemingly sinking.
