360 Indians leave Jeddah under ‘Operation Kaveri’ on New Delhi-bound flight

Amidst the ongoing violence in Sudan, the work of evacuating Indian citizens under Operation Kaveri is in full swing. On Wednesday, 360 Indian nationals flew to New Delhi from Jeddah Airport. India has started Operation Kaveri to evacuate its three thousand Indian citizens. To execute this, the second naval ship INS Teg also reached the coast of Sudan. Apart from this, during the 72-hour ceasefire in Sudan, necessary relief material was provided to the stranded Indian citizens there.

Earlier, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted that the first batch of 278 Indians stranded in Sudan under Operation Kaveri left for Jeddah from INS Sumedha. Indian citizens from Jeddah will be brought to the country by Indian Air Force aircraft. He said that INS Teg and officials under Operation Kaveri had reached the Embassy Camp Office on the Sudan coast with necessary relief material to evacuate the Indian nationals.

On the other hand, Minister of State for External Affairs Muraleedharan has also reached there. He said preparations had been made in Sudan and Jeddah to evacuate the Indians. On reaching Jeddah, he visited the control room set up there. For the last 12 days in Sudan, 400 people have died in the fierce war between the army and the paramilitary group. India’s effort to evacuate Indians from Sudan has led to a 72-hour ceasefire agreed between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF).
