The suspect in Allen mall shooting, Texas that left eight people dead and injured seven others on Saturday (local time) has been identified as 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia, CNN reported citing a senior law enforcement source familiar with the investigation.
After the shooting on Saturday in Allen, there were eight fatalities and seven other injuries. An Allen Police Department officer who was in the mall for a different call shot and killed the shooter, according to the authorities. Investigators are of the opinion that the shooter acted alone. According to the news report, the shooter appeared to be lying on the ground after being shot and had an AR-15-style weapon close by.
Garcia was fatally shot in front of the mall, and according to the senior law enforcement source, he had at least one other weapon on him in addition to the AR-15-style weapon discovered nearby. Additionally, police found numerous weapons in his car.
According to CNN citing the law enforcement source, Mauricio Garcia had been residing in some kind of temporary housing. According to a report from The Dallas Morning News that CNN cited, the suspect resided in a Dallas extended-stay hotel.

Investigators have not uncovered a specific reason for the mass shooting in Allen. The deceased suspect, according to the source, was discovered with a “RWDS” insignia on his clothing, CNN reported.
RWDS, according to the authorities, may stand for “Right Wing Death Squad”.
Meanwhile, Allen Police Department in a press release said, “As of Sunday morning, May 7, Medical City McKinney was treating four patients, one in fair condition and three in critical condition. One patient was transferred to Medical City Plano, a Level I Trauma Center, and is currently listed in fair condition. One patient was transferred to Medical City Children’s Hospital and is in fair condition. A ninth patient was treated at a different area hospital.”
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Allen Premium Outlets, and the Allen Police Department are working together on a strategy to reunite people with any vehicles left at the scene, according to the press release from the Allen Police Department. It stated that later updates on the effort would be shared. The Texas Department of Public Safety is now in charge of this investigation, according to Allen Police Department.
