The authorities, according to police, have gained possession of three major government facilities: the Supreme Court, the presidential palace, and the Congressional buildings.

“I’m out in the field, patrolling the streets and personally leading the security forces, carrying out the President of the Republic’s duty. Nobody will escape punishment. Criminals will not be able to erect a barrier to the democratic rule of law ” stated Ricardo Cappelli.

According to media reports, supporters of Bolsonaro burst over security barriers and entered Brazil’s Congress, Supreme Court, and the Planalto Presidential Palace on Sunday, citing photographs seen in Brazilian media.

Brazil’s President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, was not there at the time. However, as the demonstrators invaded the palace, a team of officials assembled for the newly-elected President was working inside.
