China stands ready to work with India: Chinese Foreign Minister

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry website, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated on Sunday that China is willing to cooperate with India via steady and sound strengthening of relations.

While speaking to reporters on China’s relations with India, Wang stated “China and India have maintained diplomatic and military-to-military communication channels, and both countries are committed to maintaining border stability. We remain ready to collaborate with India to advance China-India ties steadily and soundly.”

This remark came in the aftermath of a clash between Indian and Chinese forces in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang region on December 9.

Following the confrontation, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced in a statement that India and China convened the 17th session of Corps Commander Level Meeting on December 20 at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on the Chinese side and agreed to preserve security and stability in the Western Sector.

“In the meanwhile, the two parties agreed to preserve security and stability on the ground in the Western Sector,” the statement said.

According to the MEA statement, the two sides agreed to maintain continuous communication and conversation through military and diplomatic channels in order to resolve the outstanding concerns as soon as possible.
