The death toll from a devastating explosion that occurred during a Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) convention in Pakistan has risen to 44, with approximately 200 others injured. The tragic incident took place at around 4 pm on Sunday in Bajaur’s Khar, where the JUI-F leader was addressing the gathering when the suicide blast occurred.

According to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akhtar Hayat Khan, the explosion in Bajaur was a result of a suicide attack, with approximately 10 kg of explosives being used. Investigation teams are actively gathering evidence at the blast site to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.

In response to the incident, injured individuals are being swiftly transported to Timergara and Peshawar for medical treatment, as reported by Geo News. Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz has ordered a thorough investigation to identify those responsible for the attack.

To manage the crisis, the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshawar has been placed on high alert. Security forces and other law enforcement agencies are currently engaged in a rescue operation to provide aid and maintain order in the area. Inspector General Frontier Corps (FC) Major General Noor Wali Khan has also arrived in Bajaur to supervise the situation.

The leader of JUI-F, Fazl, has called for a full inquiry into the tragic incident and has appealed to party members to donate blood to help the injured.

Various political figures have expressed their condemnation and concern over the attack. Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly criticized the perpetrators, stating that those who put innocent lives at risk should not be considered human beings.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq also condemned the blast, denouncing it as an attempt to sow chaos in the country. He urged the government to conduct an immediate investigation into the matter.

Additionally, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari called on the federal and provincial governments to bring the accomplices of the terrorists to justice. Offering his sympathies and condolences to the families of the deceased, Bilawal emphasized the need to eliminate the planners of such acts of terrorism.
