Israel Envoy to India Naor Gilon Calls for Lighting ‘Diya of Hope’ for Israeli Hostages Held by Hamas

As the festival of Diwali approaches in India, Israel’s Ambassador Naor Gilon has called for a symbolic act of hope by lighting a “Diya of Hope” for the Israeli hostages held by Hamas since the October 7th incident. Drawing a parallel with the celebration of Lord Ram’s return during Diwali through the lighting of Diyas, Gilon encourages people to light a Diya with the hope of their loved ones’ safe return. He has asked for this act to be shared on social media using the hashtag #DiyaOfHope.

In a related development, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have shared images of various weapons recovered from Hamas terrorists during their operations on October 7th. These weapons include hand grenades, explosives, RPGs, explosive belts, firearms, rockets, and missiles. The IDF has highlighted the use of these weapons in attacks against Israeli civilians, emphasizing the tragic loss of innocent lives.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has indicated that Israel will maintain security control over the Gaza Strip for an indefinite period following the conflict with Hamas. The situation in Gaza post-war remains uncertain, with questions surrounding Israel’s plans for governance and security. The conflict began when a large number of terrorists breached the Gaza border on October 7th, resulting in casualties, abductions, and a significant impact on the region.
