EAM Jaishankar Holds Bilateral Meet With Mexican Counterpart at UNGA

On the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged in a bilateral meeting with his Mexican counterpart Alicia Barcena Ibarra.

“India-Mexico relations have consistently thrived, marked by warmth, cordiality, and a deepening of bilateral trade and comprehensive cooperation. Both nations, as large emerging economies, share similar socio-economic development priorities and face common challenges. They also uphold democratic, secular and pluralistic systems, reflecting convergent worldviews” , the Ministry of External Affairs stated.

During his visit to the UNGA session in New York, EAM Jaishankar also conducted bilateral meetings with several other international counterparts including the Prime Minister of Cambodia and the foreign ministers of Guinea Bissau, Cyprus, Uganda and Egypt.

Earlier in the week, the External Affairs Minister had a productive and busy day of engagements with fellow foreign ministers from various nations on the sidelines of the 78th UNGA in New York. His day began with the Quad Foreign Ministers meeting, which brought together the foreign ministers of the four-nation bloc, namely S Jaishankar (India), Antony Blinken (United States), Penny Wong (Australia) and Yōko Kamikawa (Japan).

Subsequently, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar held a bilateral meeting with his Japanese counterpart, Yoko Kamikawa during which they discussed regional, multilateral and global cooperation. EAM Jaishankar is leading the Indian delegation for a week-long visit to New York, where he is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly on September 26th.
