External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar convened a meeting with the President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Dennis Francis in New York on Monday. EAM Jaishankar is currently in New York to lead the Indian delegation during the 78th UNGA session, where he is slated to deliver an address on September 26.
Following the conclusion of his visit to New York, EAM Jaishankar is scheduled to journey to Washington DC.
During his stay in New York, the EAM engaged in discussions with his Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, on the sidelines of the 78th UNGA session. The two leaders affirmed the strength of their bilateral relationship and exchanged views on the ongoing situation in the Caucasus.
“On the sidelines of #UNGA78, met with @AraratMirzoyan FM of Armenia. Appreciate his sharing assessment of the current situation in the Caucasus. Affirmed our strong bilateral relationship,” Jaishankar conveyed via social media.
EAM Jaishankar also met with Elmedin Konakovic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Their discussions centered on the burgeoning bilateral ties between the two nations, with a particular focus on trade and the economy.
Additionally, the External Affairs Minister held talks with Mexico’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Alicia Barcena. The discussions centered on advancing the partnership between the two countries, with a key emphasis on various sectors, including business, science, technology, education, the economy, and traditional medicine.
