Eiffel Tower Evacuated After Man Attempts To Climb The Structure

Paris police informed CNN on Sunday that the Eiffel Tower was evacuated after a man was seen climbing the structure.

Authorities have not yet released additional information. The evacuation occurred just a few hours before the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics at the Stade de France.

Videos circulating on social media depicted the man scaling one of the Olympic Rings that have been placed on the tower to mark the games in Paris.

“Some guy is climbing on the Olympic Rings at the Eiffel Tower. You can see him on the blue ring,” wrote one user on X.

In a different video, the climber appears to be escorted off the tower’s viewing platform by police. He is heard telling bystanders, “Bloody warm, innit?”

This isn’t the first time someone has attempted to climb the 324-meter (1,062-foot) tall Eiffel Tower. In 2019, the tower was evacuated after a man scaled its side, and in 2015, three individuals were seen climbing the iconic structure.
