Era Travel Ceases Operations, 430 People Entitled to Refunds

In a recent development, approximately 430 individuals who have purchased travel packages are facing uncertainty and disruption in their travel plans. The Tourism Administration, under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, has mandated Age Travel to suspend its operations for a period of three months. This decision comes as a result of regulatory sanctions against Era Tourism, a move that has left numerous consumers in a state of limbo.

As of now, there are around 430 tourists who have booked travel packages with Age Travel but have yet to commence their trips. These individuals are now entitled to full refunds and compensation for their disrupted travel plans. The Tourism Administration has underscored the importance of ensuring that affected passengers are adequately compensated for the inconvenience caused.

Tang Wenqi, the head of the tourism industry group at the Tourism Department, shed light on the situation, particularly concerning a recent tour group bound for Phu Quoc Island. Due to financial discrepancies between Age Travel and a local travel agency, the tour group, comprising 16 passengers, was prevented from departing as scheduled. In response, the group tour was converted into a self-guided tour, with passengers consenting to independent travel arrangements.

Moreover, an assessment conducted by the Tourism Department revealed that Era Travel, another implicated agency, has accepted bookings from nearly 430 individuals for tours scheduled until April. Given the regulatory actions taken against Era Tourism, including the suspension of operations, affected passengers are urged to seek refunds and compensation for their disrupted travel plans.

The ramifications of these regulatory measures extend beyond inconvenience, highlighting broader concerns regarding consumer protection and regulatory oversight within the travel industry. As passengers navigate the uncertainty surrounding their travel arrangements, the Tourism Administration remains committed to ensuring that their rights and interests are upheld.

In the midst of these developments, affected passengers are advised to liaise with Age Travel to facilitate the refund process and explore alternative travel options. However, the uncertainty surrounding the future operations of Era Tourism raises questions about the long-term implications for both the company and its customers.

As the situation continues to unfold, stakeholders within the travel industry are closely monitoring developments and advocating for swift resolution and redress for affected passengers.
