Gaza Continues to Struggle with Hunger Despite Aid Ahead of Eid Al-Fitr

As Palestinians in Gaza prepare for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr festival, the flow of aid remains insufficient to alleviate the dire conditions caused by the ongoing Israeli air and ground campaign. Six months into the conflict, Gaza’s inhabitants continue to suffer, with many displaced from their homes and facing severe shortages of essential supplies.

Despite some increase in aid, Palestinians in Gaza assert that it falls far short of meeting their needs, especially with the vast majority of the population displaced and struggling to access necessities.

With Eid al-Fitr approaching, traditionally a time of celebration and feasting, there is little cause for cheer among Palestinians in Gaza. The sight of a young boy labouring under the weight of a cardboard box filled with aid paints a stark picture of the reality faced by many in the territory.

The aid, distributed by organizations such as the United Nations, provides some relief, but it remains inadequate, lacking essential items like soap and detergent. Meanwhile, the widespread destruction has exacerbated public health issues, including a lack of clean water and the spread of disease.

Fayez Abdelhadi, a resident of one of Gaza’s displaced camps, voices the frustrations of many, highlighting the insufficiency of aid for his family and others in similar situations. Similarly, Umm Mohammed Hamad, who has been displaced for nearly two months, expresses disappointment at the delayed and insufficient assistance
