The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have intensified their military operations in the southern Gaza cities of Khan Yunis and Rafah over the past 24 hours, as reported on Thursday morning. The continued offensive is part of a broader campaign to counteract Hamas’s activities in the region.
In Khan Yunis, the IDF targeted and struck launchers that were reportedly aimed at Israel. This action is part of a strategic effort to neutralize threats from Gaza-based rocket launchers.
In Rafah’s Tel al-Sultan neighborhood, Israeli troops pressed their operations against Hamas. During this phase, soldiers dismantled a structure rigged with explosives that had been utilized by Hamas operatives. This move aimed to reduce the immediate threat posed by such explosive-laden facilities.
Simultaneously, Israeli forces maintained their operations in central Gaza, where the Air Force conducted strikes on several armed Hamas squads that posed a direct threat to the troops on the ground. The Air Force’s offensive included attacks on approximately 35 targets across Gaza. These targets encompassed armed squads, military structures, and various elements of the terror infrastructure utilized by Hamas.
The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant casualties and hostage situations. As of the latest reports, at least 1,200 people have been killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage following Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. Of the 115 hostages still believed to be alive, 39 have been confirmed dead. Additionally, Hamas has been holding two Israeli civilians captive since 2014 and 2015, and has also retained the bodies of two Israeli soldiers killed in 2014.
The intensified operations by the IDF reflect the ongoing high-stakes nature of the conflict and the complex security situation in the region.
